The world’s oldest tree, Old Tijikko, only stands 16 ft tall but has been around for 9,550 years! The tree’s age was determined by carbon-14 dating of its root system underground. While the trees trunk may be replaced overtime by a new one, the original root system remains intack. Old Tijikko grows in a very harsh environment on Fulu Mountain of Dalarna in Sweden.
